WASHINGTON, D.C.-U.S. Senator Susan Collins, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced today that she has successfully secured $4.74 million for Maine programs in the FY 2010 Department of Labor and Health and Human Services, and Education spending bill. Included in this funding is $250,000 for equipment upgrades at Charles A. Dean Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
"Rural communities have unique characteristics and special needs, and their hospitals, physicians, and other health care professionals face tremendous challenges as they work to provide the highest quality health care," said Senator Collins. "I am delighted to have worked to successfully secure this funding that would be used to replace outdated patient safety systems and equipment, upgrade cancer detection and cardiac monitoring equipment, continue the upgrade of IT patient management systems and improve outpatient surgical services at Charles A. Dean Memorial Hospital."
