$900,000 - City of Lewiston - Funding would support canal infrastructure upgrades for the City of Lewiston. The canal will serve as the anchor feature for the extended redevelopment of Lewiston's downtown waterfront and Bates Mill/Island Point area for which the city has already invested $25 million of its own funds
$600,000 - Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments - Funds would go toward assisting efforts to restore the historic Camden Yarns Mill building in downtown Lewiston.
"The ongoing revitalization of the Lewiston Waterfront is an exciting step forward for Maine's twin cities," said Senator Collins. "I am delighted to have worked to successfully secure this funding that would be used for the renewal of the Lewiston riverfront. I look forward to seeing these projects become reality."
The FY 2010 Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development Appropriations Bill was approved today by the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development. It is now scheduled to be considered by the full Senate Appropriations Committee on Thursday.
