WASHINGTON D.C. – Senator Susan Collins today was pleased to present the Charles L. Edson Tax Credit Excellence Award to Logan Place of Portland. Mr. Dana Totman, President of Avesta Housing in Portland, accepted the award. Mark Swann, director of Preble Street, was unable to attend the ceremony. The award is given by the Affordable Housing Tax Credit Coalition and honors exemplary housing developments funded in part by Low-Income Housing Tax Credits. Awards are given in four categories, Logan Place received the award for “Special Needs Housing”.
“Logan Place does not provide just housing and services. It builds a community and creates hope. Tenants become partners in individualized plans so that they may gain the skills and confidence they need to achieve their own goals.” Said Senator Collins. “I will continue to seek additional funding at the federal level to support the important work that Logan Place does.”
Logan Place is a development that provides 30 efficiency apartments for chronically homeless individuals in Portland. Supportive services for Logan Place are provided by Preble Street. This $5,000 award will enable Logan Place to bring additional facilities, services, and amenities to the development for the benefit of its residents.
