SENATOR COLLINS PLEASED IG LOOKING INTO SECRET SERVICE

WASHINGTON-U.S. Senator Susan Collins, ranking Republican on the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, released the following statement about the Department of Homeland Security Inspector General's intention to investigate the U.S. Secret Service incident in Cartagena, Colombia.

"While I have confidence in Director Sullivan, I am pleased that the Inspector General is investigating these serious charges and the Secret Service's responses to them.  It is always difficult for an organization to investigate and reform itself, which is why the IG's involvement is so important and also why Senator Lieberman and I are pursuing our examination as well."
