BANGOR, ME—Senator Susan Collins today released this statement following the death of Herbert “Herb” Sargent. Sargent, who started the successful H.E. Sargent construction company in 1926, died Sunday at age 100. Funeral services will be held today in Stillwater.
“Herb Sargent was a wonderful man who cared deeply about his family, his community, and his state. A successful business leader who never forgot his roots, Herb made a difference in the lives of so many people and he especially loved children. I last talked with Herb on his 100th birthday in February and thought at the time about the extraordinary impact of his life. He will be missed not only by his family but also by all of us lucky enough to have known him.”
