Senator Collins Mourns The Passing Of Dr. John Winkin

           WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Susan Collins issued the following statement on the passing of former University of Maine and Husson University baseball coach John Winkin:

           “I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. John Winkin. Dr. Winkin was an extraordinary coach and his successes are legendary. He was a dedicated educator and mentor of young men. His service to our country in the United States Navy, his commitment to physical fitness, as evidenced by his famous daily runs, and his strong personal faith helped make him a model for generations of Maine student athletes.”
