Senator Collins Mourns The Passing Of Charles Lyons

          Washington, DC - Senator Susan Collins today issued this statement following the passing of Charles Lyons, President of York County Community College:

          "I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Charlie Lyons, an outstanding public servant, and a dear friend.  For nearly a quarter century, Charlie served our state in a number of leadership posts throughout Maine's higher education system, including several within the University of Maine system, and most recently as President of York County Community College.  His impressive career speaks to his steady leadership and unwavering commitment to the noble cause of educating minds.  While he will be dearly missed by his family, friends, colleagues and students, Charlie leaves behind a lasting legacy that will be felt for a long time to come. My thoughts and prayers are with his loving wife, Barbara, and his entire family."
