The program is designed to strengthen employees’ management and leadership skills
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Susan Collins met virtually with Leadership Aroostook, a program designed to cultivate early and mid-level managers’ leadership and management skills.
During the meeting, Senator Collins delivered brief remarks on leadership and participated in a wide ranging Q&A session with participants from Twin Rivers, Northern Maine Development Commission, MMG Insurance, County Federal Credit Union, and other Aroostook County businesses and organizations. Dr. Maria Hansen, Husson University’s Dean of College of Business and New England School of Communications, facilitated the discussion.
“Leadership Aroostook is an excellent opportunity for employees to strengthen their professional development and leadership skills,” said Senator Collins. “I enjoyed speaking with participants and learning about the innovative workforce and economic development projects they are spearheading. This rising group of business leaders are proof that Aroostook County has a bright future ahead.”
In September 2021, Aroostook Partnership collaborated with Husson University to begin a program in Aroostook County designed to grow management and leadership skill sets for early and mid-level managers who are responsible for managing at least one person or multi-faceted projects. Private, public, and non-profit organizations and businesses were asked to send their highest performing, most productive employees who aspire to build knowledge and skills and make themselves more professionally valuable.
This session of Leadership Aroostook will run through August 2022 and meets monthly at the MSAD 1 “Work Shop,” a new interactive workspace at the MSAD 1 Adult and Community Education Center designed to provide Aroostook County residents with greater access to higher education learning opportunities through technology and resources made possible through a partnership with MSAD 1, Husson University, and MMG Insurance. During the monthly program, there is a full day of presentations from various presenters and allocated time to focus on workforce and economic development projects.
