Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Susan Collins met with Tony Shurman, president and CEO of Wyman's of Maine, in her Washington, D.C., office to discuss the challenges facing Maine’s blueberry industry.
“Maine’s iconic wild blueberry industry has been an important part of our state’s economy and culture for centuries,” said Senator Collins. “Tony and I had a productive discussion about ways to strengthen this unique industry, and I look forward to our continued work to ensure a bright future for blueberry growers in Washington County.”
Founded by Jasper Wyman in 1874, Jasper Wyman and Son is a family-owned company with a heritage of leadership in the growing and marketing of wild blueberries. Wyman’s also supplies frozen blackberries, raspberries, strawberries and mangoes sourced from family farms in the United States and abroad. Mr. Shurman became president and CEO of Wyman’s in March 2017.
