U.S. Senator Susan Collins today met with the new President and CEO of NewPage Corporation, Tom Curley, in her Washington, D.C. office. During the meeting, Mr. Curley thanked Senator Collins for her continued support of NewPage's petition to the Department of Commerce and the International Trade Commission to remedy the effects of China's unfair trade practices, which have harmed Maine's paper industry.
The U.S. Department of Commerce recently issued a preliminary determination against China and Indonesia that could ultimately impose duties on imported coated paper, allowing U.S. paper companies like NewPage to compete on a level playing field.
