Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Susan Collins met with Dr. Joan Ferrini-Mundy, the new President of the University of Maine and the University of Maine at Machias in her Washington, D.C., office this afternoon.

“It was a pleasure to meet with Dr. Ferrini-Mundy in Washington this afternoon, and I look forward to working closely with her to make sure our students have the tools they need to grow and thrive in the State of Maine,” said Senator Collins.

Ferrini-Mundy currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer for the National Science Foundation, and she is a national leader in STEM education, research, and policy.

Last weekend, Senator Collins delivered the commencement address at the University of Maine’s 216th graduation ceremony.
