U.S. Senator Susan Collins met this week with Colonel Dan Leclair, Maine Wing Commander of the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol, who is from Minot, and Cadet Vincent Van Dintel, of Berwick. Cadet Van Dintel was in Washington to participate in the Civic Leadership Academy - he was one of only twenty-four cadets nationwide to be selected to attend the program.
The Maine Civil Air Patrol is Maine's civilian auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force. The non-profit organization's volunteers assist with search and rescue, homeland security and disaster relief missions, community service projects, and serve as mentors to thousands of young people participating in the cadet program.
