Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Susan Collins met with members of the Maine Boys & Girls Clubs, including leaders from Portland, Yarmouth, Presque Isle, and Waterville.
“I enjoyed speaking with members of Boys & Girls Clubs across our state about the importance of afterschool programs for students,” said Senator Collins. “I look forward to our continued work together to support policies that advance the health and wellness of Maine’s youth.”
Every year, Senator Collins advocates for funding for 21st Century Community Learning Centers, which support Boys & Girls Clubs nationwide. In addition, as a co-author of the Paycheck Protection Program, she worked to ensure 501(c)(3) organizations such as the Boys & Girls Clubs were eligible to receive forgivable loans in order to help them to continue to operate during the pandemic.
