Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Susan Collins, the Ranking Member of the Housing Appropriations Subcommittee, met with MaineHousing leadership to discuss the importance of supporting housing authorities across Maine amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The dedicated staff at MaineHousing work hard to provide seniors, individuals with disabilities, and low-income families across our state with access to an array of programs that help them improve their living conditions and achieve economic independence,” said Senator Collins. “As the Ranking Member of the Housing Appropriations Subcommittee, I remain committed to ensuring that the housing needs of all Mainers are met.”
MaineHousing participants included Daniel Brennan, Director; Peter Merrill, Deputy Director; and Erik Jorgensen, Director of Government Relations.
As the Ranking Member of the Housing Appropriations Subcommittee, Senator Collins has strongly supported affordable housing across the State of Maine. Earlier this year, she announced that nineteen housing authorities received a total of more than $10 million for the development, financing, and modernization of public housing properties.
MaineHousing has helped Maine people own, rent, repair, and heat their homes since 1969. The agency is an independent state authority created to address the problems of unsafe, unsuitable, overcrowded, and unaffordable housing.
