Senator Collins Meets with Maine’s National Youth Correspondents

Washington, D.C.— U.S. Senator Susan Collins today met with Sophia Wood of Auburn and Elise Kenney of Orono, Maine’s National Youth Correspondents who are attending the Washington Journalism and Media Conference hosted by George Mason University and the Newseum.  Sophia is a rising sophomore at Edward Little High School, and Elise is a rising senior at Orono High School.

“It was a pleasure to meet with these talented young Mainers,” said Senator Collins.  Elise and Sophia are doing an exceptional job representing Maine at the Washington Journalism and Media Conference, and I am delighted that they have this opportunity to learn more about journalism and hone their leadership skills. It is evident that Sophie and Elise have bright futures ahead of them.”

National Youth Correspondents are selected based on their strong academic record and commitment to the discipline of journalism and media. Sophia and Elise attended the weeklong conference along with other aspiring high school journalists and heard from a number of distinguished speakers and experts in the journalism field.
