WASHINGTON, D.C.—Senator Collins met with Maine’s 2006 Prudential Spirit of Community Honoree, Kathleen Casasa Blouin, of Portland to congratulate her and discuss her volunteer work in Maine. Kathleen, 18, is a senior at Deering High School and helps plan and lead counseling programs to ease the emotional trauma that children typically experience when their parents divorce or separate.  Shown here is (from left to right):  Kathleen Casasa, Senator Collins, Kathleen Casasa Blouin, and Terry Blouin.  The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards represent the United States’ largest youth recognition program based exclusively on volunteer community service.  The awards were created in 1995 by Prudential in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals to honor middle school and high school students at the local, state and national level for outstanding service to others.
