Bangor, ME – Today, U.S. Senator Susan Collins was the keynote speaker at the Bangor Rotary Club Luncheon.  Following her remarks, Senator Collins participated in a Q&A session with attendees.  Approximately 80 Rotarians attended the luncheon.

“For more than 100 years, the Bangor Rotary Club has been making a real difference in the surrounding area through service projects that benefit families, the environment, and the community.  Their selflessness and dedication to service is truly commendable,” said Senator Collins.  “In this time of hyper partisanship and gridlock, I was pleased to bring some good news to the club about some of Congress’ recent accomplishments, such as increasing investments in our transportation system, supporting biomedical research, combatting the opioid crisis, and lowering the costs of prescription drugs.”

Senator Collins, an honorary member of the Rotary Club, previously met with Bangor Rotarians last year to celebrate the Club’s 100th anniversary.

Founded in 1917, Rotary Club of Bangor is part of Rotary International, a worldwide service organization with 1.2 million members. Rotarians volunteer their time and talent to further the Rotary motto “Service Above Self.”
