Bangor, ME — Today, U.S. Senator Susan Collins attended the Bangor Rotary Club’s meeting to speak about her ongoing efforts in Washington to help build a new economy for the future and to discuss Maine’s important role in those efforts.  Following her remarks, Senator Collins participated in a Q&A session with attendees.  Approximately 50 Rotarians attended the luncheon.

“The topics I have discussed today – clean energy, advanced manufacturing, life-changing medical research, and affordable medications – are joined in a common theme.  Progress in Washington results when there is bipartisanship,” said Senator Collins.

During her remarks, Senator Collins spoke about her strong support for the Advanced Structures and Composites Center at the University of Maine as well as Maine companies that are creating good-paying jobs through innovative manufacturing techniques.  She also discussed her efforts to lower the cost of prescription drugs as well as to champion research, from boosting investments in biomedical research to introducing the Better Energy Storage Technology (BEST) Act to support grid-scale energy storage research and development.

Senator Collins, a former member of the Bangor Rotary Club, is an honorary Rotarian and Paul Harris Fellow.  She previously met with Bangor Rotarians in May 2018.
