WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Susan Collins video chatted with fifth grade students from Falmouth Elementary to congratulate Malek Dalal and his classmates on the selection of their Easter egg design that was featured at the 2019 White House Easter Egg Roll last month. Malek collaborated with his classmates and worked 2-3 hours per day in school and at home to create a design that highlights some of Maine’s iconic features.
During the video chat, students in the class also asked Senator Collins questions on a variety of topics, including why she became a U.S. Senator, where she would like to travel, her work to support schools in Maine and throughout the country, and what she would want her superpower to be.
“I had a great time talking with the students from Falmouth Elementary and hearing how Malek and his classmates created an Easter egg design that truly showcases Maine’s beauty,” said Senator Collins. “Speaking with Maine students always brightens my day, and these students came prepared with great questions. Congratulations again, Malek!”
