SENATOR COLLINS CELEBRATES MAINER NAMED “ARMY NATIONAL GUARD SOLDIER OF THE YEAR”

Washington, D.C. -- Senator Susan Collins offered her congratulations to Sergeant First Class Paul Pratt of New Gloucester, who was named an Army National Guard Soldier of the Year for 1st Army North. Sergeant Pratt was honored at a ceremony last night at Fort McNair in Washington, DC.

"Sergeant Pratt clearly represents the high quality of individuals that the Maine National Guard has among its ranks both at home and abroad. His dedication, commitment, and experience contributed to his achievement," said Senator Collins. "All of us in Maine, and especially Sergeant Pratt's wife Debra, have a reason to be proud of him. The recognition he has earned is well-deserved."

Sergeant Pratt has twenty years of honorable service in the Army National Guard. He has received the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, and many others. He is currently assigned to the Recruiting and Retention Command at the Military Entrance Processing Station in Portland. Sergeant Pratt has managed and developed complex automation systems.
