SENATOR COLLINS CASTS 4,000TH CONSECUTIVE ROLL CALL VOTE

U.S. Senator Susan Collins today cast her 4,000th consecutive roll call vote, continuing her perfect voting record in the U.S. Senate. Her 4,000th vote was in support of final passage of the Public Lands Act. Senator Collins has voted in every single roll call vote that has occurred in the Senate since she was sworn into office in January of 1997.

"I take the responsibility that has been granted to me by the people of Maine very seriously," said Senator Collins. "It has been my honor and privilege to represent our State in Washington. I continue to be inspired by former Senator Margaret Chase Smith who never missed a vote in 13 years before surgery forced her to miss her first vote."

According to Senate records, Senator Collins holds the distinction of being the only sitting Senator to cast 4,000 consecutive votes without ever missing a vote.

Senator Collins, who serves as Ranking Member of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee and on the Senate Armed Services Committee, was appointed to the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee in January. On that committee, she serves as Ranking Member of the Financial Services and General Government Subcommittee, as well as on the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, Transportation and Housing, Agriculture and Rural Development, and Interior and Environment Subcommittees. Senator Collins is also a senior member of the Committee on Aging.
