Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Susan Collins attended the grand opening ceremony of WEX’s new headquarters in Portland.  Senator Collins delivered remarks and toured the new building.  Approximately 150 people attended the ceremony, including members of the WEX Executive Leadership Team, WEX Board of Trustees, WEX employees, members of local and state government, and executives from businesses throughout the State of Maine.

“I am delighted to join the leaders of a great company for this celebration.  This new headquarters demonstrates that hard work, focus, and cooperation produces growth, opportunity, and a stronger community,” said Senator Collins.  “Maine is so fortunate to have a company like WEX here in our state.  Your growth during the past 36 years from a startup business called Wright Express with only a handful of employees into an international industry leader truly is cause for celebration.”

The new four-story building, which occupies 100,000 square feet, will provide the company with more space to better accommodate its growing business and employee needs.  It will operate as both accommodations for the corporate office and as an innovation hub for the North American fleet, virtual product, and technology teams.

WEX is a leading financial technology service provider across a wide spectrum of sectors, including fleet, travel, and health care. WEX operates in more than 10 countries and in more than 20 currencies through more than 4,800 associates around the world.  WEX provides more than 800 jobs to Mainers.
