SENATOR COLLINS ANNOUNCES NOMINATION OF ASSISTANT ADJUTANT GENERAL OF MAINE NATIONAL GUARD

WASHINGTON, D.C.--Senator Susan Collins, a member of the Senate Armed Service Committee, today announced that the Senate Armed Services Committee has approved the nomination of Colonel Brent Boyles to become Assistant Adjutant General of the Maine National Guard. The position includes a promotion to the rank of Brigadier General.

Colonel Boyles has served our armed forces for more than 25 years, most recently as the Commander of the 52nd Troop Command in Bangor, a position he has held since January 2002. A 1979 West Point graduate, Colonel Boyles currently is Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Maine Public Service Company in Presque Isle.

"I am pleased that Colonel Boyles is being recognized for his dedicated service to our country, and the State of Maine," Senator Collins said. "The Committee's approval of his nomination will allow the Colonel to begin his critical and prestigious role as Assistant Adjutant General of Maine; and we in Maine are proud of the commitment this citizen-soldier continues to make to the National Guard."

The nomination is expected to be considered by the full Senate this week.
