Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Susan Collins, the Chairman of the Transportation Appropriations Subcommittee, announced that the Biddeford, Saco, Old Orchard Beach Transit Committee (BSOOB) has been awarded a total of $440,944 to assist with operating and administrative expenses amid the COVID-19 pandemic. This second tranche of funding was awarded by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) through the CARES Act.
“Public transit systems in Maine and throughout the country are facing financial pressures due to the coronavirus pandemic,” said Senator Collins. “As the Chairman of the Transportation Appropriations Subcommittee, I am delighted that this investment will assist the Biddeford, Saco, Old Orchard Beach Transit Committee in improving the safety, efficiency, and reliability of its transportation infrastructure.”
As the Chairman of the Transportation Appropriations Subcommittee, Senator Collins helped to secure more than $600,000 for BSOOB in the first round of CARES Act funding.
