U.S. Senator Susan Collins today announced that the U.S. Army awarded General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products a contract in the amount of 25,987,217. The contract is for 1,909 M2 machine guns that will be produced at its facility in Saco.
“The Army continues to look to Saco Defense for state-of-the-art quality equipment on which our service members rely. I applaud the men and women of Saco Defense as they, once again, work to supply our troops with the very best arms and equipment,” said Senator Collins.
The contract is estimated to be completed by February 28, 2009.
Senator Collins serves on the Senate Armed Services Committee, which has oversight over the U.S. Army and other military branches.
