Senator Collins Announces Nearly $1.1 Million for Six Maine Housing Programs

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Susan Collins, the Chairman of the Housing Appropriations Subcommittee, announced that six organizations in Maine will receive a total of $1,062,909 to support efforts to develop and preserve affordable housing and supportive services for persons with disabilities in Cumberland, Androscoggin, Sagadahoc, and Kennebec Counties. 

 

“Maine’s housing authorities provide many important services to seniors, individuals with disabilities, and low-income individuals and families,” said Senator Collins.  “As the Chairman of the Housing Appropriations Subcommittee, I am committed to ensuring that the housing needs of vulnerable individuals and families are met.  By supporting public housing agencies, these grants will help connect Mainers with the resources they need to achieve economic independence.”

 

The funding will be distributed as follows:

 

  • Portland Housing Authority will receive $297,135.

 

  • Lewiston Housing Authority will receive $166,956.

 

  • The Housing Authority of the City of Westbrook will receive $193,995.

 

  • Bath Housing Authority will receive $144,213.

 

  • Augusta Housing Authority will receive $99,654.

 

  • The Maine State Housing Authority will receive $160,956.
