SENATOR COLLINS ANNOUNCES NEARLY $10 MILLION NAVY CONTRACT FOR GENERAL DYNAMICS' SACO DEFENSE FACILITY

U.S. Senator Susan Collins, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, today announced that the U.S. Navy has awarded General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products a contract in the amount of $9,831,278. The funding will be used to produce 20 mm Gatling machine gun systems which are used on F/A-18 strike fighter aircraft. At least half of the production work will occur at the General Dynamics facility in Saco.

"This contract award is welcome news for the skilled workers at Saco Defense," said Senator Collins. "I applaud their work to supply our troops with the very best arms and equipment."

The contracted work is expected to be completed by September 2012.
