SENATOR COLLINS ANNOUNCES MORE THAN $2 MILLION FOR RURAL INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS IN FARMINGTON AND MECHANIC FALLS

U.S. Senator Susan Collins today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development program will award more than $2 million in loans and grants for infrastructure improvements to improve water quality in Farmington and Mechanic Falls.

"As we recognize Earth Day, it is particularly appropriate that USDA release these funds to help further our commitment to fund water infrastructure project that will improve quality of life in rural communities and help protect our environment for future generations," said Senator Collins.

The following will receive funding:

o $143,000 loan and $387,000 grant to the Town of Farmington Sewer Department

o $885,000 loan and $675,000 grant to the Mechanic Falls Sanitary District


The USDA Rural Development program provides financial loans and grants to help improve the economy and quality of life in all of rural America. The funds are used for community programs, which seek to construct or improve community facilities for health care, public safety, and public services.
