.S. Senator Susan Collins today announced that $11,281,300 in federal Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant funding has been distributed to the Maine State Energy Office and ten Maine cities.

The funding will be distributed as follows:
• Maine State Energy Office - $9,593,500
• City of Auburn - $105,200
• City of Augusta - $99,400
• City of Bangor - $161,700
• City of Biddeford - $92,500
• Town of Brunswick - $100,900
• City of Lewiston - $157,700
• City of Portland - $684,700
• Town of Sanford - $87,3000
• Town of Scarborough - $84,300
• City of South Portland - $114,100

The funding is being distributed to Maine through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). Senator Collins worked with a bipartisan group of senators to craft the legislation that became law last month.

Senator Collins released the following statement:

"It is critical that we help foster locally-developed and implemented energy-saving and conservation programs," said Senator Collins. "Many times, our communities develop plans to help conserve energy, but lack the funding to implement them. This funding will allow them to proceed with their plans. Additionally, the funding will help create and save the jobs of our skilled and dedicated workforce. I look forward to seeing this stimulus funding put to good use."
