SENATOR COLLINS ANNOUNCES DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE CONTRACT TO MAINE COMPANY

Washington, DC – Senator Susan Collins announced today that a Maine-based company has received an award from the Department of Defense for military aviation support services. Telford Aviation Services, a subsidiary of The Telford Group in Bangor, has been awarded more than $110 million over five years.

"I am pleased that the Defense Department has recognized the invaluable work of Maine-based Telford Aviation Services by awarding the company a military aviation maintenance contract," Senator Collins said. "Telford's efforts to earn this contract will help the company grow by sustaining and creating jobs."

The Telford Group is based in Bangor, Maine and employs 125 Mainers. It operates maintenance facilities for commercial and corporate aircraft at Bangor International Airport. The company is also involved in a government research and development project involving airships at the Loring International Airport in Limestone, Maine.

"Senator Collins was instrumental in helping The Telford Group navigate the procurement process and win this competitive contract that will bring additional work to our Maine facilities," Bob Ziegelaar, President of The Telford Group said.

The Telford Group's core activities are aircraft maintenance, aircraft parts provision, aircraft leasing and aviation asset management services.
