Senator Collins Announces Bangor Native Selected to Senate Page Program

Washington, D.C.—U.S. Senator Susan Collins announced today that Bangor native Sydney McDonald has been selected for the United States Senate Page Program for the summer of 2016.  Sydney was nominated to the program by Senator Collins following a competitive selection process.  Sydney is the daughter of Camille Morrison.

“I am delighted to announce Sydney as a member of the Senate Page Program,” said Senator Collins. “Sydney is a highly motivated student with an impressive record of academic achievement and involvement in extracurricular activities.  I am pleased that she will have this unique opportunity to become intimately familiar with how Congress operates.”

Sydney is a member of Youth in Government and was elected by her peers in November to serve as the Youth Governor for the State of Maine.  She is also a member of the Bangor High School Student Council, Drama Club, Speech and Debate Team, and Math Team. She was a recipient of the Bangor High School Award for Academic Excellence for both her freshman and sophomore years. She placed in the top 20 in many prestigious debate tournaments, such as the Yale and Harvard Invitational. At the Maine State Science Fair, she won Most Outstanding Exhibit in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics or Chemistry, and will be competing at the International Science and Engineering Fair in Arizona this May.
