U.S. Senator Susan Collins, who is a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, announced that the Navy has awarded BIW a contract totaling $76,613,742. The contract will provide additional dollars for BIW to continue work as the planning yard for DDG-51 and FFG-7 class ships. Under the contract, BIW will provide expert design, planning, and material support services for both maintenance and modernization of these vessels. All of the work will be performed at BIW.
“The skilled workers at Bath Iron Works continue to play a key role in our national security and Naval ship programs. This contact announcement is very good news,” said Senator Collins.
