SENATOR COLLINS TO ADDRESS DIRIGO GIRLS STATE

Washington, D.C. -– Senator Susan Collins will deliver the welcoming address to student delegates attending the 2004 Dirigo Girls State program that is scheduled to begin on Sunday, June 20th, at Husson College in Bangor. Senator Collins is scheduled to speak at 7:00pm. She is also expected to answer questions from students.

Girls State is a hands-on opportunity to learn first hand how state and local government work. Students are chosen for the program for demonstrating leadership, good citizenship, scholarship, and community participation and service. Delegates are nominated by the faculty at their respective schools.

As a student, Collins was a Girls State delegate from Caribou High School.
