Washington, D.C.—U.S. Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) released this statement today regarding the terrorist attack in Nice, France:
"I am appalled by the horrific terrorist attack in Nice that claimed more than 80 lives, including at least two Americans. This news is particularly troubling since France is still reeling from the terrorist attacks in Paris that killed 130 people and wounded hundreds more last November as well as the Charlie Hebdo shooting last year.
“America will continue to stand with the people of France, our oldest ally. These attacks will not weaken our resolve to defeat terrorism. We must unite with our partners around the world, step up our intelligence sharing, and redouble our efforts to counter this dangerous extremist ideology.”
