SENATOR COLLINS’ STATEMENT ON SECRETARY POWELL’S RESIGNATION
Washington, DC – Following the announcement today that Secretary of State Colin Powell will resign from his position, Senator Susan Collins released the following statement:
"I thank Secretary Powell for his long and honorable service to our country. He has been an inspiring role model to many Americans.
"I believe history will record Secretary Powell as one of the great Secretaries of State to serve this country. He is well respected by all who work with him and has earned the deep trust and respect from his counterparts in other nations. In addition, he has always shown a willingness to work across party lines and to bring together people of different ideologies.
"Secretary Powell will be greatly missed. I wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors."
