Washington, D.C.—U.S. Senator Susan Collins issued the following statement regarding today’s announcement that Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt submitted his resignation. Senator Collins was the only Senate Republican to vote against Mr. Pruitt’s nomination in February 2017.
“Mr. Pruitt’s resignation is long overdue. I voted against his nomination because it was clear that he did not support the EPA’s mission. As it turned out, that was only part of the problem. His ethical failings are too numerous to recount, and I am glad that he is finally stepping down.”
