WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Susan Collins released the following statement in remembrance of September 11, 2001:
“Fourteen years ago, our nation was stunned by the terrorist attacks that took the lives of nearly 3,000 people in our country. We will never forget those who perished that day, nor will we waver in our defense of the American way of life.
“Today, let us pause to remember the lives lost in those attacks, especially those first responders -- the firefighters, police officers, and emergency medical personnel -- who rushed to save the lives of others and too often lost their own lives. Their bravery continues to astonish and inspire us.”
