Senator Collins’ Statement on Passing of Dennis Curley

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senator Susan Collins released the following statement following the passing of Dennis Curley, President of CanXus Broadcasting Corp. in Caribou.

“Dennis Curley, who was known to many of his devoted listeners as Douglas Christiansen, was the voice of Aroostook County for more than 30 years.  Dennis and his wife, Pam, moved to Maine decades ago and have been friends of mine for many years.  As the owners of Channel X Radio, they have been committed advocates for The County.

“Dennis was a consummate professional who was dedicated to keeping the residents of Aroostook informed about important issues across the state and in Washington, D.C.  He was well known for his insightful, in-depth interviews of local and state leaders and members of the community.  During my Senate service, I have had the pleasure of being interviewed by Dennis numerous times.  Before every interview, we began by catching up on what we had missed since we last spoke.  I deeply valued his kindness, trustworthiness, and friendship.

“In addition to keeping Aroostook County abreast of current events, Dennis was passionate about his work to improve the community.  As an active member of the Caribou Rotary Club and by skillfully using the power of his microphone, he selflessly donated his time and talents to improving the lives of everyone around him.

“Every day, Channel X honors a resident from Aroostook County with a "tip of the hat” segment.  Appropriately, today’s "tip of the hat” recognizes Dennis for the countless contributions he has made to The County.  He will be deeply missed by his many listeners and all who were fortunate enough to have known him and call him friend.”
