SENATOR COLLINS’ STATEMENT ON AIG BONUSES

U.S. Senator Susan Collins released this statement following news reports that AIG will pay $165 million in bonuses to some of its executives.

"I voted against providing an additional $350 billion in TARP money, precisely because of the lack of stringent restrictions on the use of taxpayers' money. Congress never should have approved the expenditure of additional funds given the clear lack of accountability and transparency in the use of the initial $350 billion."
