BANGOR, ME – U.S. Senator Susan Collins surprised her congressional intern and honoree, Lee Jackson, this afternoon at the McDonald’s Crew Person of the Year Recognition event in Bangor to congratulate him on receiving this impressive award. Lee was one of only 25 McDonald’s employees nationwide to receive the McDonald’s Crew Person of the Year Award. Lee has served as an intern in Senator Collins’ Bangor Constituent Service Center since October 2015 and was a part of Senator Collins’ successful 2014 campaign.
“Lee might be surprised by this award, but to those of us who know him, his work ethic, commitment to service, and helpfulness are no secret I am so fortunate to have him working in my Bangor office and on my 2014 campaign. It is remarkable that Lee is able to balance those duties with his excellent performance as a student at UMaine, and his outstanding work here at the Old Town McDonald’s,” said Senator Collins.
“What’s even more remarkable is that those accomplishments only scratch the surface: an elected member of the Old Town School Board, Chairman of the Penobscot County Republican Committee, a leader in the Party’s youth initiative on campus, and Senior Policy Advisor to the President of the University of Maine Student Government, to name but a few of his contributions,” Senator Collins continued. “Lee, you represent the very best of Maine, and we are all very proud of you.”
Established in 2002, the Crew Person of the Year Award acknowledges and rewards McDonald’s crew members who make outstanding contributions in their restaurants. McDonald’s spotlights these crew members as role models, an honor that comes with a cash prize, plaque, pin and more.
