The funding is being distributed to Maine through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). Senator Collins worked with a bipartisan group of senators to craft the legislation that became law last month.
"This funding will help improve the lives of the dedicated men and women who work at Maine's military facilities. In addition, it will help boost our economy by putting people to work improving our defense infrastructure," said Senator Collins.
According to the Department of Defense, projects receiving funding are as follows:
• Portsmouth Naval Shipyard will receive $24,480,000
• Camp Keyes Training Site will receive $555,000
• Portland Armory will receive $304,000
• Bangor Training Site will receive $205,000
• Houlton Armory will receive $42,000
