SEN COLLINS ANNOUNCES $10.6 MILLION CONTRACT FOR GENERAL DYNAMICS THAT WILL BENEFIT SACO WORKERS

WASHINGTON, DC – Senator Susan Collins today announced that General Dynamics, which has a facility in Saco, has been awarded a $10.6 million contract from Lockheed Martin Aeronautics for production of ammunition handling systems for the F/A-22 Raptor aircraft. Maine will benefit directly from this contract as General Dynamics has chosen their Saco facility to perform the assembly work for this contract that extends through April 2007. These ammunition systems are found on many of the U.S. fighter aircraft on the front-lines.

"The contract awarded to General Dynamics is especially good news for the workers in the Saco facility who will be responsible for assembly of the ammunition handling systems for the F/A-22 Raptor aircraft. I have been a longtime supporter of F/A-22 production and am pleased that General Dynamics has chosen the dedicated workers at their Saco facility to carry out this important work that contributes directly to our nation's homeland security. This contract is also a testament to the talent and skills of the General Dynamics workers in Saco," Senator Collins said.
