Release: Sen. Collins Lauds NTSB Participation In Investigation Of Downed Malaysian Airliner

WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S. Senator Susan Collins, the Ranking Member of the Senate Appropriations Transportation Subcommittee, which funds and has jurisdiction over the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), issued the following statement regarding the downed Malaysian airliner in Eastern Ukraine:

“The NTSB informed me today that it is sending an investigator to Ukraine to support the U.S. Government’s response to the downed Malaysian airliner.   It is critically important that our air safety experts are allowed access to the crash site and evidence, including the plane’s black box, so that we can lend our expertise to the investigation and get to the bottom of this horrific and tragic crime.”

Yesterday, Senator Collins called for a cooperative international investigation and access to the plane’s black box by impartial experts.
