WASHINGTON, DC-- An article in January’s edition of Oprah’s Magazine, “O” lists Senator Susan Collins as one of six women who could run for President. The article, entitled, “…And Six [Women] Who Could Give it a Shot” discussed a recent poll where more than half of respondents think that women would do as good a job as men on foreign policy, homeland security and the economy.
The article wrote, “[Susan Collins] is straight talking, very knowledgeable, and has a solid track record. She’s been at the top of Senate homeland security work. Well liked across party lines, she’s going to have more visibility in the next three years and should be an interesting person to watch.”
In addition to Senator Collins, the article suggested that Senator Hillary Clinton, Condoleezza Rice, Janet Napolitano, Shirley Franklin, and Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison could also be good contenders for President of the U.S.
