Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Susan Collins, a senior member of the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee, announced today that she secured $1,010,000 to install a Commercial Kitchen Incubator in Bangor in the Fiscal Year 2022 Health and Human Services Appropriations bill.
The omnibus funding package passed the House and the Senate and now heads to the President’s desk to be signed into law.
“This new business development facility will create a professional, shared-use environment for Maine farmers and other agricultural producers to grow their businesses and add value to their products, supporting jobs throughout the region,” said Senator Collins.
A commercial kitchen incubator will grow the business of locally produced agricultural products, create jobs, and develop market opportunities for food production operations throughout northern Maine in a professional, shared-use environment. It will address a deficiency in the food production infrastructure in Maine – a lack of a central kitchen or co-packing facility that can help businesses grow.
