Maine Military Authority To Receive $40 Million Award From National Guard Bureau

WASHINGTON, D.C.- Senator Susan Collins, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and the Senate Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, today announced that the Maine Military Authority (MMA) in Limestone will receive an additional $40 million award from the National Guard Bureau (NGB) for fiscal year 2012.  MMA refurbishes vehicles, equipment and component parts for the National Guard. "This is very exciting news for MMA's employees, their families, and for the northern Maine economy," Senator Collins said.  "As a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and the Senate Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, I have repeatedly expressed the importance of maintaining our national defense industrial base, of which MMA is a critical part, to senior defense officials, including Under Secretary of Defense (AT&L) Frank Kendall and Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology, Heidi Shyu. This award is a a testament to MMA's talented workforce and their quality craftsmanship."
