DISPLACED SENSATA EMPLOYEES IN STANDISH TO RECEIVE $779,362 IN EMERGENCY GRANT FUNDING

U.S. Senators Olympia J. Snowe (R-ME) and Susan Collins (R-ME) today announced that the U.S. Department of Labor has approved their request of national emergency grant funding, awarding up to $779,362 for workers affected by the closing of Sensata Technologies in Standish, Maine.  The funding will help displaced workers with assessment, case management, and career and occupational skills training services.               “We’re so pleased to announce this emergency grant funding for the workers displaced by the closing of Sensata Technologies,” said Snowe and Collins in a joint statement.  “It is our hope that these hardworking Mainers will be able to utilize these critical services to get back on their feet and move forward in the upcoming months.”               Earlier this year, Sensata Technologies announced that its production operations would be moving overseas to the Dominican Republic and subsequently 200 employees would be dislocated.                                                                                                    ###
