Collins, King Join New England Delegation in Introducing Resolution Honoring Boston Red Sox World Series Victory

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Angus King (I-ME) joined members of the New England Senate delegation today in introducing a resolution to congratulate the Boston Red Sox on their 2018 World Series victory against the Los Angeles Dodgers. 

“In clinching the 2018 World Series, the Boston Red Sox stand as a testament to the New England values of hard work and perseverance,” said Senator Collins.  “This resolution not only recognizes the commitment, skill, and leadership exhibited by the team, but it also expresses the gratitude from all of us who make up Red Sox Nation.  Congratulations to the Red Sox on an extraordinary season!”

“Since Spring Training, the Red Sox showed time and again that they were a special team,” said Senator King.  “From the leadership of Alex Cora, to the positivity of Mookie Betts, to the exceptional performance of Steve Pearce in the World Series, the Sox had it all. It was great to watch their energy and charisma capture the hearts and minds of fans in Maine and across New England. Congratulations to the 2018 World Champions!”

In addition to Senators Collins and King, the resolution was introduced by Senators Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Ed Markey (D-MA), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Maggie Hassan (D-NH), Chris Murphy (D-CT), Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Patrick Leahy (D-VT), and Jack Reed (D-RI).
