WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King today congratulated the Maine International Trade Center (MITC) on being honored with the prestigious “E” Award from the U.S. Department of Commerce. The “E” Award is the highest honor that a U.S. organization, institution, or company can receive for making a significant contribution to the expansion of America’s exports. MITC was recognized for its role in supporting Maine companies as they work to export their goods and services overseas.
“For nearly twenty years, the Maine International Trade Center has provided critical services and advice to assist Maine businesses as they work to sell their products overseas and create jobs here at home,” said Senators Collins and King in a joint statement. “We congratulate MITC for this well-deserved national recognition, and applaud the Department of Commerce for choosing such a fitting awardee that continues to do great work expanding Maine’s economy.”
Representatives from the Maine International Trade Center received the “E” Award from Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker at a ceremony today in Washington. Established by President Kennedy, the “E” Award is a symbol of excellence to honor and provide recognition to America's exporters.
The Maine International Trade Center is a public-private partnership between the state’s Department of Economic & Community Development and more than 300 Maine businesses, individuals, and educational institutions. Created in 1996 by the Maine Legislature, MITC provides export education and counseling services for Maine entities and coordinates overseas export sales missions.
