U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King today announced that Bath Iron Works has been awarded a $10,965,890 order against an existing Navy basic ordering agreement related to the testing and evaluation of the USS Rafael Peralta. More specifically, the award will support planning, management, engineering services, and emergent availability and repairs.
“This announcement is welcome news for the hardworking and highly-skilled men and women at Bath Iron Works,” said Senators Collins and King in a joint statement. “An investment in BIW is not only an investment in the future of the Navy, but also in Maine’s economy and our people. These funds will support our outstanding shipbuilders as they continue to make sure that the USS Rafael Peralta is ready to join the Navy fleet as another world-class, Maine-built ship.”
Senator Collins is a member of the Senate Defense Appropriations Subcommittee and Senator King is a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee. Senators Collins and King delivered remarks at the Rafael Peralta (DDG-115) christening ceremony at Bath Iron Works in October 2015.
